Manned Gate

Some developments are what are described as gated communities. gated communities may be manned or un-manned. Gated communities restrict access to the development to non-residents. The entrance to the development is normally barred by a gate. Resident access is provided by a "clicker" or gate opener or a bar code reader. In manned gated communities visitors normally report to the guard house, the guard is then responsible for contacting the resident to determine if the the visitor can be allowed access. Manned Gated communities also normally have some form of manned security patrols for additional security.

The gate personal are normally paid for from Home Owner association (HOA) fees. Thus manned gated communality HOA fees are normally higher.
